Description
Cagrilintide — Long-Acting Amylin Receptor Agonist Peptide
Cagrilintide is a synthetic long-acting analogue of human amylin, engineered as an agonist acting at the amylin receptor. It is produced by solid-phase synthesis and supplied for in vitro laboratory research use only.
Research context
Published preclinical literature has examined cagrilintide’s binding affinity and cAMP-signalling activity at the amylin receptor (AMY) family in transfected cell-line systems, distinguishing amylin-receptor activation from calcitonin-receptor background signalling. Receptor-pharmacology studies have also examined its combination with GLP-1 receptor agonist peptides as a combined-agonist model for dual-pathway signal-transduction research. Functional cAMP-accumulation and receptor-binding assays remain the primary in vitro methods applied to this compound. Structural-stability studies have additionally examined engineered modifications that reduce the fibrillation propensity characteristic of native amylin, using biophysical aggregation assays relevant to in vitro handling, alongside circular-dichroism studies of secondary-structure stability under varied buffer conditions and storage-temperature regimes relevant to lyophilised-powder handling.
