Description
Sema GLP-1 — Semaglutide, GLP-1 Receptor Agonist Peptide
Sema GLP-1 is a synthetic peptide analogue, known in the pharmacological literature as semaglutide, engineered as a long-acting agonist acting at the GLP-1 receptor. It is produced by solid-phase synthesis and supplied for in vitro laboratory research use only.
Research context
Published in vitro literature has examined semaglutide’s binding affinity and cAMP-accumulation activity at the GLP-1 receptor in transfected cell lines, including pancreatic beta-cell line model systems used to characterise receptor-mediated signal transduction. Structure-activity studies have examined the fatty-acid side-chain modification that extends its plasma protein-binding profile relative to earlier GLP-1 receptor agonist peptides. Receptor-binding and functional signalling assays, including radioligand-displacement and cAMP reporter-gene formats, remain the standard in vitro methodology applied to this compound. Comparative pharmacokinetic-modelling studies in cell-free systems have also examined its proteolytic-degradation resistance and extended plasma half-life relative to native GLP-1, using enzymatic-digestion and protein-binding assay formats.
