Description
KPV — Tripeptide, Alpha-MSH C-Terminal Fragment
KPV (Lysine-Proline-Valine) is a synthetic tripeptide corresponding to the C-terminal fragment of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It is supplied for in vitro laboratory research only.
Research context
Preclinical literature has examined KPV for its suppression of NF-kappaB signaling and cytokine release pathways in cultured immune cell models, independent of the pigmentary activity associated with larger melanocortins. Investigators have studied its antimicrobial activity against select bacterial strains in vitro, and its effects on epithelial and dermal cell signaling in cultured skin-cell models. Model systems include macrophage and keratinocyte cell lines used in cytokine-release and signal-transduction assays.
