Description
Selank — Tuftsin-Derived Heptapeptide
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from the endogenous immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, supplied for in vitro laboratory research only.
Research context
Published preclinical work has examined Selank in in vitro and animal models of GABAergic and serotonergic receptor signalling, and in studies of BDNF expression. Investigators work with it in receptor-binding and neurochemical assay designs, including radioligand-binding assays targeting GABA-A receptor subunits and HPLC-based quantification of monoamine turnover in brain-tissue homogenates. Reported model systems include rodent designs used to probe stress-response circuitry at the receptor and neurotransmitter level, together with enzyme-linked immunoassays measuring tissue BDNF concentrations across experimental groups. As a member of the tuftsin-derived regulatory peptide family, Selank is also referenced in comparative pharmacology literature alongside related immunomodulatory peptide fragments. Additional preclinical designs have paired receptor-binding assays with chromatographic degradation studies characterising the compound’s stability in biological matrices, and with gene-expression analyses of neurotransmitter-synthesis enzymes in cultured neural tissue.
