Description
Adipotide/FTPP — Pro-Apoptotic Peptidomimetic (Prohibitin-Targeting)
Adipotide (FTPP) is a synthetic dual-domain peptidomimetic combining a vascular-homing domain with a pro-apoptotic domain, engineered to bind the prohibitin receptor. It is produced by solid-phase synthesis and supplied for in vitro laboratory research use only.
Research context
Published preclinical literature has examined this peptidomimetic’s binding affinity for prohibitin receptors expressed on vascular endothelial cell lines, and its downstream activation of apoptotic signalling cascades within targeted endothelial cell populations in vitro. Histological and cell-viability assay systems have been used to characterise selective endothelial cell apoptosis following compound exposure in tissue-culture models. Receptor-binding and apoptosis-pathway assays remain the primary in vitro methodologies applied to this compound in the literature. Cell-viability assays using Annexin V and propidium-iodide staining have been used to quantify the extent of apoptotic activity in compound-exposed endothelial cultures relative to untreated controls, alongside microscopy-based assessment of vascular network disruption in cultured endothelial monolayers.
