Description
Oxytocin Acetate — Nonapeptide, Oxytocin Receptor Ligand
Oxytocin Acetate is a synthetic nonapeptide formulated as the acetate salt, acting as a ligand for the oxytocin receptor (OXTR). It is supplied for in vitro laboratory research only.
Research context
Preclinical literature has examined oxytocin in receptor-binding assays using OXTR-expressing cell lines, and in studies of G-protein coupled receptor signalling and downstream calcium-mobilisation pathways. Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis receptor-expression models have also used this compound to characterise oxytocin receptor distribution and signalling in vitro. Comparative receptor-binding studies alongside structurally related nonapeptides, such as vasopressin, have examined receptor-subtype selectivity under these in vitro conditions.
